Beanpot: BC, NU meet to decide ‘Pot champ for first time since 1983

Top-ranked Boston College and Northeastern will meet on Monday night in the 59th Annual Beanpot championship game at the TD Garden. The Eagles and Huskies will be playing in the title game against each other for the first time since 1983 and for just the second time ever. The game also marks the first of three straight head-to-head meetings between the two Boston rivals. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.

**UPDATE, 6:52 p.m.** Harvard won the consolation game, 5-4, over Boston University. Michael Del Mauro scored the game-winner at 17:52 of the third period to lift the Crimson to their first consolation win since 2006. BU had not finished fourth since 1980, which was the same year that Northeastern won their first-ever title. Terrier junior Alex Chiasson potted a pair of goals, but it was not enough as Harvard’s Ryan Carroll made 45 saves between the pipes. Harvard junior Alex Killorn scored two goals, including a shorthanded tally early in the second period.
